  • Wherefore

Most of the fruit for this wine hails from a neighboring vineyard in our Chiles Valley AVA that was the source of the original 2008 fruit from which David made his first vintage of Petite Sirah. An outsider to the cult of noble grapes (as is Zinfandel), Petite Sirah is part underdog, part phoenix. Considered lacking in pedigree it triumphs paradoxically on the strength of its many overlooked virtues. A sort of alter ego to Cabernet Sauvignon, unburdened of noblesse oblige, it is everything its royal counterpart aspires to and more. Holding nothing back, neither reserved nor austere, its exuberance and unadulterated power deliver a wallop of fruit, game, and earth. David so enjoyed working with that first batch of Petite Sirah fruit he planted a small block on our property the following year. A small portion of our estate Petite Sirah is present; the bulk of that fruit is the lead component in our 2018 Chaos Theory.
